About Yam Timsina

Yam Timsina was born in Tehrathum, Nepal and graduated from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, with an MSc in Chemistry with Biology minor in 2000. After many years of teaching in high school and college, he moved to the USA in the fall of 2006 for higher research studies. He earned his MS in Chemistry from Western Illinois University in Macomb Illinois in 2008 with Prof. Ashish Pathak, where he studied synthesis and application of proteins and carbohydrates.

As a doctoral fellow in the research laboratory of Prof. T. V. RajanBabu at The Ohio State University (OSU) in Columbus Ohio, he studied and conducted research on organic and medicinal chemistry. 

After his PhD, he moved to University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), Philadelphia, as a postdoctoral fellow in the research laboratory of Prof. Virgil Percec where he studied and conducted research on organic, material, and medicinal chemistry.

In 2016, he joined as a postdoctoral fellow of the Department of medicinal chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia.

After completing his PhD and postdoctoral training, at present, he is primarily a scientist with technical and intellectual curiosity. Along with his scientist career, his writing is focused on issues of health, scientific research progress, social upliftment, and value creation.

Yam Timsina is a scientist, author, writer, blogger, and runner. He has run multiple half-marathon and marathons. He lives in Brookfield, Wisconsin with his wife Dipika and three kids Alyssa, Aryanna, and Aayam.
